More tea please

More tea please

This past weekend I had the amazing experience of going to the Mary Cassatt room in Rittenhouse square for high tea. Amazing is actually an understatement. My cousin and I decided to take my mommom there for her birthday, and it truly passed every single expectation I could have had. Classy is also an understatement if I may add. It was beyond elegant, and I would be lying if I said I didn’t feel like I was channeling my inner Blair Waldorf. I didn’t hesitate to take pictures of every single thing, because frankly it blew my mind how beautiful the whole experience was.

If you enjoy tea, then you would be in your version of heaven. Personally, I am not a fan but decided to try something with some vanilla and caramel in it. Although I didn’t hate it… I think I will stick to coffee.

As for my outfit, I could kick myself for rushing because I did have the perfect vision planned in my head. However, me being myself, I didn’t have enough time to figure out every detail so decided to go a different route. I wore a navy and cream sweater dress that was purchased several years ago from Century 21 and my black Lucky Brand wedges.

Pictures are the only thing that will do this experience slight justice unless you experience it for yourself. Not one napkin was left unfolded, the service was fabulous, and all around it was beyond memorable. I hope you enjoy!

All That Glitters…

All That Glitters…

Aside from my love for all things fashion related, my love for beauty and makeup is stronger than ever. When people ask me how I “learned” how to do makeup or where I picked up this knack, I honestly do not really know what to say.

The only thing I can think of, is being shown a video on Youtube of a girl by the name of Blair showing her makeup collection. Little did I know she was showing this collection to the hundreds and thousands of girls subscribed to her channel. I remember watching that video and being in complete awe of the amount of makeup she had. I was also shocked to see that there was a whole beauty community out there on the internet that I knew nothing about.

From that moment on, I subscribed to every beauty channel I could find. I quickly found myself glued to my computer screen, watching every single stroke of the Mac 224 brush as the girl on the other side of the computer was teaching me how to do a smokey eye. I was absolutely addicted. I watched people like Kandee Johnson, Blair Fowler, Michelle Phan, and Whatstyleistonickel religiously.

So, I guess to answer that question, Youtube drove me to this new found love that I now get to call a passion of mine. From that moment forward I ended up at Mac counters, and Sephora stores spending money I did not have, on makeup that I coveted… and still do. Not many things compare to a brand new Mac eyeshadow (I guess those are words of an addict)

Anyway, I started accumulating a “collection” and I really did not realize this until friends came over and stared at my eight drawers filled to the brim with makeup wondering if they had to check me into some kind of rehab. I can honestly say makeup, and the beauty industry in general grew to be one of the greater parts of growing up and discovering my love for this industry.

I remember sitting in my room, with my lights beaming off of my hot pink walls, using that as my source of light, and taking my eye makeup on and off until I was blue in the face. I forced my friends to let me practice on them, and I would never forget to take a million pictures. Soon enough I found myself doing makeup for junior proms, senior proms, Bat Mitzvahs and everything in between. I became so fond of the feeling of someone looking in the mirror and loving what they saw back.

See It With Sami

See It With Sami

There is a whole world surrounding us that is filled with an overwhelming amount of light and inspiration. It varies for everyone, understandably so. For me, it is the world of fashion, beauty and everything in between. It is the source of inspiration that I use to guide me to my future. Without any hesitation I have been able to say for years now, that my career will be one surrounded by all of the things I love. It just so happens it is a beaming industry that will never ever slow its pace, which I am ready for. Over the last couple years I have been capturing my take on style, makeup and everything in the middle by a little thing called a photo shoot. Yes, it is done five minutes away from my house with a Cannon power shot camera, but it is my little gateway into a place I love so much. My best friend and I start preparing early in the morning, going all out. We take our time doing our hair, and my personal favorite our makeup. Then, we pick out our outfits. What about that doesn’t sound fun? Over the years we have gathered some amazing pictures that truly showcase our personal style which I love looking back on. In addition, we simply watch ourselves grow. However, I never fail to cringe looking back at the old pictures. I have watched my style grow as well as myself. From vintage handbags hand picked from old thrift stores, to wearing 5 inch heels at 14 that I could barely stand up in, I have captured this all at the flash of a picture.
